Rakaposhi & Rush Lake

Two mesmerizing treks in the mighty Karakorams.

Overview

Alpine lakes and glacier viewpoints

This two-part journey pairs the Rakaposhi Base Camp trail — a short, spectacular walk to the snout of the Minapin Glacier — with the ascent to Rush Lake, at 4,694m one of the highest alpine lakes in the world.

Between treks, rest days in Hunza's orchard villages offer forts, apricot gardens and some of the warmest hospitality in the mountains. A perfect itinerary for strong walkers who want big views without extreme altitude.

  • Camp beneath Rakaposhi's 7,788m north face
