Autumn colours across terraced orchards in Hunza

There is no single 'best time' for northern Pakistan — only best times for different journeys. Here is the year at a glance.

Spring (March – May)

Apricot and cherry blossom sweep up the Hunza Valley from late March. Lower treks open, days are mild, and photographers get the year's softest light.

Summer (June – September)

High-trek season. The Baltoro, Gondogoro La and all 8,000m base camps are at their most accessible; this is when our fixed departures run.

Autumn (October – November)

The valleys turn gold and crimson, crowds thin, and heritage touring across the plains begins as temperatures drop.

Winter (December – February)

Snow closes the high passes but opens another Pakistan: crisp days in Lahore and the south, and skiing at Malam Jabba and Naltar for the adventurous.
